Who is she? Ms. Shalando McCray is a native of Detroit, Michigan, yet has been living in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for over the last 30 years of her life. She is a mother of three amazing young adults who inspired her to create a learning center such as this. As a veteran educator, she saw that gaps were missing on both sides of the spectrum concerning education, school, and home. As a parent, thankfully she knew the educational system and was able to help her children with the resources they needed. Many parents did not know of these opportunities and with the changes in the educational curriculum, they were lost with what their children were learning in school.

As an educator, many resources took time to find and understand what was helpful for children in the classrooms. Teachers were spending their days and nights at work and neglecting their families and homes. Ms. McCray wanted to help her co-workers as well.

Through her continual research and training, Ms. McCray became a Google for Education Certified Trainer, a Level 1 and Level 2 Google Certified Educator, a Nearpod Certified Educator, a Clever Application Trainer and Certified Educator, a Site Technology Facilitator at her School Site as well as the 2019-2020 Teacher of the Year for her school. This allowed her the opportunity to become the Elementary District Level Teacher of the Year Finalist.

Ms. McCray has a love and passion for helping others learn and gain the foundations to become life-long learners. As a life-long learner herself, she continues to enhance her learning and education and focuses on making education FUN yet again.
